TEXARKANA, Texas -- A Maud, Texas, woman facing felony charges related to a wrecked Texarkana Water Utilities truck and a later crash of a passenger car pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Bowie County.

Autumn Sunshine Green, 43, appeared before 102nd District Judge Jeff Addison for arraignment on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle and two counts of intoxication assault. Assistant Public Defender Deborah Moore entered pleas of not guilty on Green's behalf.

Moore asked Addison to approve removal of the SCRAM ankle bracelet Green has worn since her release on bond in February last year. Addison denied Moore's request.

A SCRAM bracelet continuously monitors the wearer for alcohol use.

Green's auto theft charge stems from a one-vehicle crash in the early morning of Sept. 3, 2020, on state Highway 8 south of Old Boston Road in Bowie County. Green allegedly was driving a Texarkana Water Utilities truck assigned to her husband, according to a probable cause affidavit. Green allegedly told Bowie County Sheriff's Office deputies at the scene that her husband was driving the truck when it crashed.

While a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper went to interview Green at a local hospital, Bowie County deputies went to Green's house in Maud. Green's husband reportedly told deputies he'd been in bed sleeping until his supervisor called him about the whereabouts of his work truck. He also reportedly said he didn't know where his wife was.

Green allegedly did not have permission to drive the TWU truck.

At the hospital, Green allegedly showed signs of intoxication and was difficult to wake. A subpoena for medical records allegedly showed levels of benzodiazepenes, cocaine, opiates and anti-depressants.

Green has a pending misdemeanor DWI charge related to the TWU truck wreck as well as the felony charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle.

About two months after the TWU truck wreck, Green allegedly was involved in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 67 in Maud. She allegedly crossed the center line Nov. 1, 2020, while driving a gray Ford Fusion, striking a black Ford Ranger.

The Ranger's driver reportedly suffered a dislocated knee cap, while a passenger reportedly suffered a broken collar bone.

Green allegedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests at the scene and was arrested. A warrant for a sample of her blood was acquired.

If found guilty of misdemeanor DWI, Green faces up to a year in the county jail. If convicted of unauthorized use of a vehicle, she faces six months to two years in a state jail. If found guilty of intoxication assault, she faces two to 10 years in prison.

Green is scheduled to appear before Addison in April for a pretrial hearing on the felony charges.
