TEXARKANA, Texas -- A man accused of shooting his former girlfriend's new boyfriend in the face in front of two children is being held in the Bowie County jail with bail set at $450,000.

Alfred Reynolds Jr., 31, and the woman had reportedly ended a two-year relationship about four months before the shooting Jan. 21, according to a probable cause affidavit. The woman was sitting in the driver's seat and the shooting victim was in the passenger seat as the couple went to Sunset Apartments, 1601 Allen Lane, to pick up the woman's children from the bus stop.

The woman told Texarkana, Texas, police officers she had been having trouble with Reynolds and that he'd sent her a message that morning that allegedly stated, "Y'all dead."

Reynolds allegedly fired two shots, at least one of which struck the man in the face as he sat in the car. Two boys, ages 3 and 6, were in the backseat at the time of the shooting and blood was found on the 6-year-old's jacket.

The 31-year-old alleged victim's injuries were not life-threatening, police spokesman Shawn Vaughn said in an earlier Gazette report.

Reynolds is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and three counts of deadly conduct. If convicted of aggravated assault, Reynolds faces five to 99 years or life in prison. Each of the three counts of deadly conduct is punishable by two to 10 years in prison.

Reynolds is being held in the Bowie County jail.
