A&M-Texarkana names Dr. Ross C. Alexander as new president

TEXARKANA, Texas -- Texas A&M University System's Board of Regents named Dr. Ross C. Alexander as the new president of Texas A&M University-Texarkana on Thursday.

Alexander is taking on the role after former president Dr. Emily Cutrer announced in December that she was retiring.

The new president recently served as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at University of North Alabama. The university saw record retention and graduation rates and swiftly established itself as the fastest growing university in Alabama. Alexander contributed the growth to focusing on online and adult education, global education and workforce development.

Chancellor of the system, John Sharp said Dr. Alexander is just what TAMU-T needs to grow and further serve the region.

"Dr. Alexander brings the right mix of fire, compassion and experience. I believe he will do great things in Texarkana," Sharp said.

Alexander said he and his wife are thrilled to raise their family in Texarkana and to be able to serve the needs of the region.

"I am deeply honored, humbled and thankful to be chosen by the regents and Chancellor Sharp to serve as the next president of Texas A&M University-Texarkana" Alexander said.
