Invitational Junior Pro-Am announced for July in Texarkana

TEXARKANA -- Red River Junior Golf announced that it will hold its first Invitational Junior Pro-Am on July 12-15 in partnership with Texarkana Children Charities.

The inaugural event will be open to junior golfers -- boys and girls -- who have qualified through their performance in the Farmers Bank & Trust Junior Golf Tour held during the spring, according to a press release. The winners of each group will have an opportunity to play nine holes with a professional golfer from the APT/WAPT prior to the Texarkana Children Charities Open.

Past players on the APT Tour include Scottie Scheffler, Will Zalatoris, Bubba Watson, Ryan Palmer, Kramer Hickock, Hayden Buckley, Chandler Phillips, and more.

"We are very excited about this opportunity for our kids," said Fred Meisenheimer, Director of Red River Junior Golf. "This is going to provide an experience for our kids they will always remember."

The Farmers Bank & Trust Junior Golf Tour is a series of five tournaments held at each of the local golf courses in Texarkana.

"We are always looking for new opportunities to grow our tournament and expand the reach to more people in the community," said Mark Van Herpen, Chairman of Texarkana Children Charities Open. "This new Junior Pro-Am will allow us to reach another segment of the community that otherwise may not know about the tournament or the organizations it benefits."

Registration is open to all junior golfers, 19 years of age or younger, who have not yet started their first year of college. The nine-hole, stroke-play format is divided into age groups for both boys and girls. Tee times are scheduled for 4 p.m. during the week.
