Bowie County Sheriff’s Office investigating possible arson cases

NEW BOSTON, Texas -- The Bowie County Sheriff's Office is investigating two fires that occurred in March on the same property.

The fires are believed to be arson. The resident who lives on the property is offering a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

The fires happened on separate nights within nine days of each other on property near the intersection of Texas Highway 98 and U.S. Highway 82. The resident was inside the house during both fires.

The first fire was discovered by a person driving by at 1 a.m. The blaze destroyed a truck and horse trailer and $4,000 ion personal property in the truck.

The second fire occurred at 5 a.m. on a different night. It fully engulfed a storage building belonging to the resident's landlord, along with approximately $7,000 of the resident's personal property.

The blaze also spread to the house and melted several windows, along with causing other damage to the structure.
