Missouri man arrested and extradited to Arkansas in fatal shooting of Hope, Arkansas, teenager

HOPE, Ark. -- A 20-year-old Missouri man has been extradited back to Arkansas for the alleged murder of a juvenile in 2022.

Santiago Lopez, 20 of California, Missouri. was arrested Feb. 1 on charges of capital murder, terroristic act, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and engaging in violent criminal group activity, according to information from the Hope Police Department.

He was extradited to Hempstead County on Saturday. He is being held in the Hempstead County jail awaiting his first appearance.

The 16-year-old male juvenile was shot on May 3, 2022, in the 600 block of South Walnut Street. He was sent to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Lopez is the second suspect arrested in the death of the juvenile.

Bryceston Marks, 19 of Bryant, Arkansas, was arrested in May 2022. He is charged with first-degree murder, according to court records.

Marks is scheduled for trial May 6.
