Hope police arrest three on kidnapping charges


HOPE, Ark. --Three people have been arrested on charges of kidnapping and fleeing after allegedly forcing a woman into a vehicle on Saturday.

Lacey O'Dell, 38, of Amity, Arkansas, Clayton Vaughan, 33 of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and Michael Fryar, 40, of Pearcy, Arkansas have all been charged with kidnapping and fleeing, according to a news release from the Hope Police Department. Vaughan was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

They are being held in the Hempstead County Detention Center.

The woman who was allegedly forced into the vehicle is safe. The victim knew the suspects and police believe the kidnapping was the result of a domestic disturbance. There is no threat to the public, according to the news release.

At 11:30 p.m, Saturday, Hope police officers received a call in reference to a 20-year-old woman being forced into a vehicle in the 300 block of West 23rd Street.

Officers located a vehicle matching the description and attempted to stop it. The vehicle allegedly led officers on a pursuit through Hope and eventually into the Antoine, Arkansas area, according to the news release. The four occupants of the vehicle fled on foot and the three suspects were apprehended.
