TEXARKANA, Texas -- A spokesperson for Wadley Regional Medical Center on Tuesday said rumors that the hospital is no longer offering all of its services are false.

Online rumors that Wadley's emergency department is closed prompted a news release in response.

"Wadley is not closing. We are open for business and continue to see patients in our ER, perform surgery, deliver babies and admit patients as needed.

"Our commitment to patient care is unwavering, and Wadley continues to be a great place to receive care, whether outpatient, emergent or inpatient. Our staff stands ready to provide you and your family with the care you need and deserve," the release stated.

Construction of a new Wadley hospital in Texarkana has been paused indefinitely.
