LINDEN, Texas -- Keri Winters, superintendent of Linden-Kildare CISD, will retire at the end of the year.

Winters last day in the district will be March 29, and she will remain an employee until Dec. 30 to assist with the transition of leadership, according to a news release.

Winters has been the district's superintendent since August 2017. Previously, beginning in 2012, she was principal of Linden-Kildare High School.

"I have been blessed to work with wonderful people at Linden-Kildare CISD. Our leadership team, teachers, and staff deserve all of the credit for working together as a team for the success of our students. The District is in excellent shape and will continue to accomplish great things in the future," she said.

The announcement praised Winters' accomplishments

"During Winters' tenure, the District has been fiscally conservative, maintaining a balanced budget for many years, as well as a strong fund balance despite challenges with state and federal funding.

"During her seven years as superintendent at Linden-Kildare CISD, Winters oversaw the construction of a new $4 million building at the elementary without raising a bond, opening a daycare center in the district for the Linden community, and increasing accountability ratings," the release stated.
