Prep Softball: Hackleman, Pleasant Grove wallop Pittsburg

PITTSBURG, Texas -- Sarah Hackleman blasted two home runs and struck out eight from the mound to lift Pleasant Grove into sole possession of second place in District 15-4A with an 18-4 win over Pittsburg Wednesday night.

Hackleman drove in six runs, including a two-run homer in the second and a three-RBI four bagger in the fifth.

Her batterymate, sophomore catcher Jacklynn Smith, went 4-for-4 with three singles, a double and two RBI to help lead the charge.

Bekah Eaves went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored. Hailey Allen hit a pair of singles. Raiann Brewer went 1-for-2 while driving in two runs and scoring three.

Pittsburg and PG entered the contest tied at 2-1 in district play. The outcome left the Hawks one game behind 4-0 Sulphur Springs, which notched a 12-1 win over PG Tuesday night.

The Lady Hawks will entertain Paris (0-13, 0-4) at 6 p.m. Friday at Hawk field.
