Bowie County reports four COVID-19 deaths

Bowie County reported four additional COVID-19 deaths on Friday, including three Bowie County residents.

In Northeast Texas, Bowie County's COVID-19 count increased by six from Thursday to Friday to 301 positive cases with 119 recoveries and 22 deaths, according to the local emergency Joint Operations Center.

Cass County's total increased by four to 51 cases with 42 recoveries and two deaths, according to JOC.

Cass County Judge Becky Wilbanks decided Friday to opt out of the Gov. Greg Abbott's order based on the number of active cases in Cass County at that time.

"If our active case number reaches the 20 mark, we will then automatically be under the governor's order," she said.

"The choice to opt out of the governor's order does not, however, free us to opt out of using common sense. We must be self-responsible to do what it good and what is right. Please continue to follow the guidelines set forth by the CDC."

Meanwhile, Titus County COVID-19 cases increased by 12 to 732, Red River County had an increase of three cases to 115 and Morris County reported an increase of one to 41.

In Southwest Arkansas, the largest jump from Thursday's totals to Friday's totals occurred in Sevier County, which went from 717 cases to 726 cases.

Miller County's numbers increased by four from 122 to 126. Howard County increased by two cases from 96 t0 98. Lafayette County increased from 19 cases to 21 cases. Hempstead County increased by one from 56 to 57.

Several Southwest Arkansas counties' totals remained unchanged from Thursday to Friday with Nevada County at 104 cases, Little River County at 40 cases and Pike County with nine cases.

Caddo Parish in Northwest Louisiana added 78 cases Friday to reach 3,598, and Bossier Parish added 24 cases to reach 971, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 22,622 cumulative cases and 281 deaths, Louisiana reported 63,289 cases with 3,170 deaths, and Texas reported 183,532 cases with 2,575 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 2,732,531 total cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 128,648.
