The Retreat at Kenwood has started a pen pal project for residents.
Leigh Ann Taylor, activities director, said other facilities have had pen pals for residents and staff and The Retreat at Kenwood wanted to give it a try.
"It's a way to make things easier for them during the quarantine," Taylor said. "We have already had our first letters come in the mail and the residents are super excited about it. It has made them light up. They love getting anything in the mail."
Pen Pals can be local or they can be anywhere in the world, Taylor said.
The project originally started with a few residents, but will eventually be for all residents.
"It's been hard because a lot of them have been away from their families during this time. But we've been their families," Taylor said.
