MLB, NFL seasons on a collision course this fall

Now that our country is going through phases of reopening, professional sports leagues have some difficult decisions to make.

Major League Baseball proposed a 76-game doctrine to the teams and players. This makes the second official proposal given, since the league was suspended in March. This move would also make way for a 16-team MLB postseason.

MLB players would receive 50 percent of their game salary during the season while also giving all players an additional 25 percent after the completion of the World Series.

Fans of Major League Baseball have experienced strikes and lockouts before, but what would a shortened season that conflicts with football season look like?

"We want to play," Nationals pitcher Sean Dolittle said in a tweet. "We also have to make sure that future players won't be paying for any concessions we make."

The four major sports in North America are football, baseball, and basketball and either golf or hockey, if you live in the United States
or Canada.

Some football fans are baseball fans but most all baseball fans are football fans.

These two major sports leagues are going to ask fans to make financial and logistical decisions, following a pandemic, strictly for entertainment purposes.

In my opinion, asking fans to make these decisions and having the two sports competing with one another may not fare well.

The country as a whole has been waiting for sports to make its return and maybe having both will be a overload.

Spectators are already weary about going to stadiums and arenas, so adding more guidelines may cause more hysteria.

I also think both entities are important to our framework in American society, so both are needed.

Ultimately, there's a lot at stake with these decisions over the next few weeks.

All levels of football are starting to begin their offseason programs nationwide.

The MLB attempting to stick their head in the football world will either be extremely profitable or the worst decision the Major League Baseball Association has ever made.
