IN OUR VIEW | Voting By Post?: Are you for or against universal mail-in ballots?

On Sunday, the Nevada State Legislature passed a bill requiring all citizens of the state be sent a mail-in ballot for the coming November election. They said it was because of COVID-19 concerns. Seven other states have already passed universal mail-in voting bills for the November election.

President Donald Trump vowed a lawsuit over the measure. He opposes universal mail-in ballots and says they are vulnerable to fraud.

Proponents say there is no evidence mail-in ballots are more vulnerable to fraud than any other manner of voting. And they note absentee voting has been carried on by mail for decades.

We want to know what you think. Are you in favor of universal mail-in voting? Or are you opposed?

Send your response (50 words maximum) to [email protected] by Wednesday, August 12. You can also mail your response to the Texarkana Gazette Friday Poll, at P.O. We will print as many responses as we can in next Friday's paper.

Last Week: Census?

Last week's question was about the 2020 Census. We want to know if you have filled out your Census form? If not, what's stopping you?

We filled out and returned our form within a few days after receiving it. Why some are hesitant may be due to a pervasive mistrust of our government and politicians in general. So unfortunate. We have similar feelings but recognize the importance, for our cities, of being counted. - D.H., Texarkana, Texas
