Three area teams still in playoffs

Three teams from the area remain alive in state football playoffs after last week's third-round games.

Pleasant Grove thumped Sunnyvale at The Star in Frisco, Texas, 49-28, and advances to face district foe Gilmer, which beat Connally, 35-20.

The Hawks will face the Buckeyes in the Region II-4A, Division II championship/ state quarterfinals at 7 p.m., Friday at Lobo Stadium on the campus of Longview High School.

Paul Pewitt rolled Bells at Sulphur Springs High School Friday night, 53-20, advancing to meet district rival Daingerfield, who beat Newton, 30-26.

The Brahmas will face the Tigers in the Region II-3A, Division II championship/ state quarterfinals. That game is set for 7:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant High School Friday.

In Arkansas, Prescott throttled Hoxie in the Class 3A quarterfinals, 49-19, advancing to host Harding Academy in the semifinals, after the Wildcats defeated McGehee, 62-36.

The Curley Wolves and Wildcats will face-off at Eddie Jackson Field at Cummins Stadium, Friday at 7 p.m.
