PG defeats North Lamar

PARIS, Texas - Pleasant Grove continued its torrid streak in the District 15-4A girls basketball chase, knocking off North Lamar, 58-48, on the Lady Panthers' home court Tuesday.

The defending champion Lady Hawks improve to 22-4 overall and remain unbeaten in district at 5-0. North Lamar, which fell to Pleasant Grove by 75-12 in the first round, falls to 7-16, 2-3.

Asia Lloyd and Keshawn Davis scored 14 points each in the Hawks' win Tuesday.

Pleasant Grove has been dominant against district opponents this year. The Hawks are averaging 71.6 points while allowing only 39.2 in five league games. They've outscored their opponents by 32.4 points per outing.

Pleasant Grove's next league game is against Liberty-Eylau Friday in Hawks' Gym.

 

Fouke 77, Bradley 48

FOUKE, Ark. - Fouke's girls used a balanced scoring attack to defeat Bradley, 77-48.

The Lady Panthers (17-5) were led by Taylor Hardin with 23 points, including three 3-pointers, Mallory Oliver added 17 points (two treys) and Madison Crow 14 points. Fouke made 11 3-pointers on the night.

Kailee Allen topped the Lady Bears with 15 points and Gracie McDonald had 14.

Fouke jumped to a 17-8 first-quarter lead and increased it to 40-17 by halftime.

The Panthers also won the junior high game, 49-16, with Jacie Bishop scoring 19 points and Logan Smith 11 for the winners.

Fouke, defending District 7-3A champion, plays at Bismarck at 5 p.m. Friday in a league contest.

 

DeKalb 55, Hooks 33

HOOKS, Texas - Coriana Fulbright poured in 22 points and Emily Murphy contributed 17 to lead the DeKalb Lady Bears to the District 14-3A victory over the host Lady Hornets.

Lindra Burchette led Hooks with 14 points and Alley Jefferson added nine.

DeKalb led 29-21 at halftime before going on a 17-5 third-quarter scoring spree to put the game away.

The Hornets won the junior varsity game, 40-22.

 

Boys

Bradley 61, Fouke 58

FOUKE, Ark. - Fouke bombed in 10 long-range 3-pointers but Bradley came out on top, 61-58, on the Panthers' home court.

Nick Scoggins led Fouke (9-11) with 20 points, including four treys, and 11 rebounds. Cannon Garrett added 18 points.

Jonathan Easter topped the Bears with 22 points and DJ Taylor added 16.

Fouke plays at Bismarck on Friday.

TEXARKANA, Texas - Pleasant Grove is on a heater.

The Lady Hawks have scored a total of 14 goals in their last three matches, including the victory over the Lady Wildcats on Tuesday.

Senior forward Georgia Cobb had a hat trick with three goals for Pleasant Grove.

Junior Hawk forward Delia Tuttlebee booted in a goal, her 50th of her high school career. The score moved Tuttlebee into second place on the Pleasant Grove varsity girls all-time scoring list.

Defensive standouts for the Hawks (4-1-1) were senior Presley Garvin and juniors Emma Sanderson and Maddie Ethridge.

Pleasant Grove hosts Mount Pleasant on Friday.
