PARIS, Texas - Pleasant Grove's junior varsity and ninth-grade football teams posted football wins over host Paris Thursday night.
The Hawks' junior varsity won 20-7, and the freshmen were 35-28 victors.
Three players scored to power the Hawk JV squad. Marquis Cornelius scored in the first quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run, and Colin Manning added a 4-yard TD run to give Pleasant Grove a 12-7 lead.
Joseph Bailey also scored on a 4-yard run, and Garrett Harrison passed to Brett Spivey for the 2-point conversion and a 20-7 final margin.
Ahkhari Johnson bolted loose on a pair of long runs and Kaden McFadden added two touchdowns to ignite the Hawks' ninth-grade win.
Johnson raced 65 and 50 yards for his two scores, and McFadden weaved his way for TDs on runs of 12 and 3 yards. Johnson also ran for a 2-point conversion.
Brenton Clark kicked three extra points for the Hawks.
Leopards throttle Bulldogs
TEXARKANA, Texas - Liberty-Eylau Middle School blanked Jefferson, 44-0, in the eighth-grade football game.
TJ Steward led the Leopards with five touchdowns and a 2-point conversion, while teammate JuJu Matlock added a touchdown.
Kavion Hall and Jaquan Joshon each finished with eight tackles apiece for LEMS.
LEMS beat Jefferson in the seventh-grade game, 30-8.
Duane Prevo and Byron Sanders scored two touchdowns apiece for the Leopards.
Victor Shaw added a 2-point conversion for LEMS.
Hornets slip past Lions
NEW BOSTON, Texas - Hooks' Dontravious Coulter had a rushing touchdown, and Braden McDonald added a 2-point conversion to spark the Hornets' eighth grade to an 8-6 victory over New Boston in middle school football.
Hooks (1-1) was stout on defense, forcing three turnovers. Hudson Davis had an interception and Zachary Larose and Ben Phillips forced a fumble.
The Hornets' seventh-grade team had an easier time, winning 28-6. Jamarion Smith had a pair of rushing touchdowns for the 2-0 winners and Ripken Birdwell added two passing touchdowns and a 2-point conversion.
Blaze Connell and Landon Harrison caught touchdown passes, and Connell tacked on a 2-point conversion.
Defensively, Connell recovered two fumbles, and Juan Herrera and Holden Butross forced fumbles.

North Heights goes 2-1
MAGNOLIA, Ark. - North Heights won two out of three tennis matches against Magnolia.
The Panthers won the ninth-grade match, 25-20, 25-19. Jenna Dupree led the Lady Piggies with 12 points.
North Heights won the eighth-grade contest, 25-10, 25-22. The winners were paced by Jenna Dupree and Mayhli Drum with 12 and nine points, respectively.
The Piggies posted a 25-9, 25-5 decision in the seventh-grade game. Jewel Smart served 14 points and Jaydence Williams served nine, including four aces.
