McLeod to face Wolfe City in quarterfinals

TEXARKANA, Texas - McLeod (20-5) will face Wolfe City tonight in the state quarterfinals at Jack Arnwine Gym on the campus of Pittsburg High School.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Longhorns advanced after throttling Lindsay in the area round, 43-38.

"I think if we come out and set the tone early, we should put ourselves in a good position," McLeod head coach Steve Lambeth said. "They're going to give us some different looks and their pretty athletic.

"We have to take care of the ball and limit our turnovers, while forcing turnovers on the other end. This part of the season, every possession matters."

The winner will face Italy or Lipan in the regional semifinals.

"We have a great group of seniors," Lambeth said. "Each of them made plays down the stretch for us the other night that helped us get the win.

"Whether it's diving for loose balls or giving up their body for fouls, we're going to need everybody to help us get to the next round."
