Liberty-Eylau''s Tavieon Neal inks with UALR

TEXARKANA, Texas - Liberty-Eylau's Tavieon Neal signed his national letter-of-intent Tuesday, joining the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Trojan track team.

"Signing today feels great, but I have a lot more left to prove," Neal said. "Well, it was a long process and there were a lot of hours grinding.

"I'm glad it all paid off, but I know I have a lot more to accomplish."

Despite missing his junior season to COVID and only running individually his senior season, Neal posted a personal-record of 10.45 in the 100 meter dash in the third track meet of the season.

"Liberty-Eylau is a track school, so I had a good chance," Neal said. "I was hoping to get faster times but I got disqualified later in the season. It's okay though."

Neal plans to major in Health and Wellness.

"I report to UALR in August," Neal said. "I like the fact that they both have the same school colors, so I won't be changing my style as much."

Neal is the son of Timeka and Myreon Neal.

"My parents taught me that my best days are ahead of me, not behind me," Neal said. "I just want to be the best person I can be everyday. Everyone has life problems that they face everyday, but it's how you respond to those problems. The best way is through positivity.

"This is meant for me. I'm going to continue to stay positive and to give my all on the track."
