Trinity Christian School will complete the trifecta.

The Warriors will add eight-man football to their athletic program for the upcoming season. With the addition, Trinity Christian will have the three major high school sports with football, baseball and basketball.

"Ultimately, we hoped to boost enrollment with this decision," Trinity Christian School Athletic Director Josh Bishop said. "We also wanted to incorporate some kids who perhaps don't participate in other sports but enjoy the game of football; they've never been given the opportunity to play at Trinity."

Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame inductee Houston Nutt was the guest speaker at the Texarkana Convention Center for the unveiling of the inaugural Trinity Christian School football jerseys.

Trinity Christian School's program is open to seventh- through 12th-grade students.

The Arkansas Athletic Association deems eight-man football a club sport but is nearing eligibility with the governing body.

"Right now, eight-man football is a club sport but will become a AAA-affiliate sport by the end of next year with enough participation," Bishop said. "There are almost 20 teams in the AAA that will be playing eight-man football."

The Warriors do not have a home field, but their home games will be played within the city limits of Texarkana.

"We do not have a home field at this time," Bishop said. "We are in negotiations with a few places in town to share a field to play a few of our home games, and the rest of our games will be on the road."

Trinity Christian will keep its coaches in-house, naming alumnus Caleb Price the head coach with assistants Johnny Smith and Bishop.

"Caleb is currently our head track coach, but he will also assume the role as our head football coach," Bishop said. "Our administration feels as though we can handle the load and now is the time with the AAA having club football."
