Hughes' challenger to host health care town hall

Audrey Spanko, the Democrat challenging incumbent Republican Bryan Hughes for the Texas Senate's District 1 seat, will host a virtual town hall meeting on rural health care Tuesday.

Spanko will join East Texas medical professionals to discuss the coronavirus pandemic and issues affecting rural health care and hospitals, according to a news release.

Scheduled to participate are Terry Scoggin, CEO of Titus Regional Medical Center; Dr. Mike McCrady, president of Smith County Medical Society; and Dr. Beverly Waddleton, family medicine specialist at UT Health East Texas in Quitman.

The meeting is slated for 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. It will be live streamed on Spanko's Facebook page, facebook.com/AudreySpankoTXSD1.
