Former Simms student arrested in alleged threat

SIMMS, Texas - A 17-year-old has been charged with a felony for allegedly sending a Simms, Texas, Independent School District student a message that included a threat to "shoot up" a local school.

Seth Michael Moore is identified in a probable cause affidavit as a former student of Simms ISD. He is accused of sending a student a message on March 4 on Snapchat, which the student then showed to a teacher.

The teacher reported the message to administration and law enforcement was contacted.

According to the affidavit, the message talked about others asking Moore about the status of his relationship which had recently ended with a female Simms student. The message states that the questions about his former girlfriend are "really pissing me off and I'm about to come shoot up that (expletive) school."

Moore was arrested March 8 and released the same day on a $5,000 bond. In Texas, individuals accused of criminal conduct are handled in the adult criminal justice system beginning at age 17. Moore turned 17 last month.

He is charged with terroristic threatening causing fear of serious bodily injury. The offense is a third-degree felony in Texas and is punishable by two to 10 years in prison in the event of a conviction.
