TISD board to consider Red Lick pact

Trustees of Texarkana Independent School District will meet Tuesday to consider an agreement with Red Lick ISD for Texas High to serve as the official accepting district/school for those who have completed the eighth grade at Red Lick Middle School.

Red Lick's board of trustees approved the agreement during their Nov. 28 meeting. Prior to the change, students could attend other districts, including Pleasant Grove and Liberty-Eylau ISDs.

The board will also hold a public hearing on the 2016-17 Texas Academic Performance Report, where the district's Texas Education Agency's ratings will be presented.

Consideration of an architecture firm for renovation of the Construction Technology building into a multi-functioning dance studio is also on the agenda. Texarkana

College has held classes there for the past 10 years and will move those to another facility in June 2018. The building, constructed in 1969, will be used for additional workout/rehearsal space for the Texas HighSteppers and also be used as testing space.

Also up for consideration is declaring cafeteria items surplus from the recent renovation of the cafeteria at Westlawn Elementary and joining the Goodbuy and TexBuy purchasing cooperatives.

The meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the TISD Administration Building, 4241 Summerhill Road, Texarkana, Texas.
