Goodwill of Texarkana, Texas, began a bottled water drive this week on behalf of local charities who have seen their water reserves drained by the hot
summer.

"It is super hot right now," said a store representative. "We are doing this drive to help out the area homeless. The summer heat combined with COVID panic causing water buy-up, area food banks and homeless shelters are running low with their supplies of bottled water. This drive is to provide water support for the local food banks, homeless shelters and other charities.

This is Goodwill's first water drive, though they have teamed up with Harvest Texarkana on food drives. So far, four
cases of 40 bottles each have arrived, so they want to get the word out about this, to encourage more water donations to
come in.

"Just bring it to the store and we will take care of it from there," she said. "Those who donate will receive a store coupon to be used at a later date."

When the drive is concluded on July 31, staffers will deliver the water to the local charities who need it the most.

Those who want to donate are asked to bring bottled water in six-packs and bigger configurations.

In August, Goodwill, which is located on 3410 St. Michael Drive, will be doing a back-to-school giveaway - something it does every year. Shoppers are encouraged to donate school supplies, which will be given to needy children returning to school. Once again, store coupons will be offered.
