Arkansas-side Walmart barricades its doors

TEXARKANA, Ark. - Entrances at the Walmart on Arkansas Boulevard were barricaded by pallets of bottled water Sunday evening after the store's closing.

According to a Texarkana, Arkansas, police officer at the scene, there were concerns following a reported looting at the Walmart in Daingerfield, Texas.

However, Arkansas-side Police Spokesperson Sgt. Kristi Bennett said later Sunday evening there had been no looting incident in Daingerfield. She added any questions about why the local store's doors were barricaded should be referred to Walmart management.

The Morris County Sheriff's Office said Sunday evening there is no Walmart in Daingerfield and that they had no reports of looting.

The Longview News-Journal reported Sunday evening that two Walmarts and a Sam's Club store there had been closed as well because of concerns over possible protests.

The Gazette will report further information as the story develops.
