Texarkana region sees slight increase in coronavirus cases Thursday

COVID-19 cases in Bowie County rose by four Thursday, according to information from the Bowie County Emergency Operations Center. The new cases brought the total number to 242 With 119 recoveries and 16 related deaths.

Cass County has a total 36 cases with 32 recoveries, and two deaths. The number of cases increased by one from Wednesday.

Residents are urged to continue following Gov. Greg Abbott's Executive Orders and CDC guidelines for social distancing, handwashing and sanitizing.

Elsewhere in East Texas, Morris County numbers remained at 37 cases, Red River County numbers increased by two from 99 to 101 and Titus County numbers remained at 665.

Case counts in four Southwest Arkansas counties also increased Thursday while numbers in the other four counties stayed the same, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Miller County increased by one to 98 cases. Sevier County increased by three to 617 cases. Howard County increased by three to 73 cases. Pike County cases increased from seven to eight.

Little River County remained at 37 cases, Hempstead County remained at 46, Nevada County remained at 95 and Lafayette County remained at 14.

Caddo Parrish in Northwest Louisiana reported 3,096 cases. Bossier Parrish reported 751 cases.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 18,062 cases with 240 deaths, Louisiana reported 53,425 cases with 3,051 deaths and Texas reported 131,917 cases with 2,296 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 2,336,615 total cases so far in the U.S., with a national death toll of 121,117.
