Bowie County COVID-19 death toll reaches 12

Titus County, Texas, added 100 to its count of confirmed coronavirus cases over the Memorial Day weekend, and Bowie County, Texas, reported its 12th death from COVID-19.

Those counties were among four in Northeast Texas that reported new cases Tuesday.

Titus County's case count leapt from 221 to 321, Morris County's rose from 17 to 21, and Red River County's from 44 to 48, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Bowie County added four cases since Friday, reaching 121, according to the local emergency Joint Operations Center. Twelve Bowie County patients have died of COVID-19, up one since Friday. Seventy-eight of those patients have recovered, 27 are isolated at home, and four are hospitalized.

Cass County, Texas' count held at 26, with 20 of those patients recovered, according to the JOC.

In Southwest Arkansas, Sevier County added more than 30 cases from Friday to Tuesday, increasing its count from 62 to 93, according to the Arkansas Department of Health.

Little River County's cases rose from one to four, Howard County's from 15 to 17, and Hempstead County's from 11 to 13.

Miller County held at 42 cases, Lafayette County at nine, and Pike and Nevada counties at four.

Caddo Parish in Northwest Louisiana added more than 50 cases, moving from 2,293 to 2,347. Bossier Parish's count rose from 380 to 398.

Statewide, Texas reported 56,560 total cases so far, with 1,536 deaths. Louisiana reported 38,054 cases with 2,596 deaths, and Arkansas reported 6,029 cases with 117 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 1,662,414 cases in the U.S. so far and a national death toll of 98,261.
