Local man charged with internet stalking of a child

TEXARKANA, Arkansas - A Texarkana man is facing a criminal charge for allegedly stalking a 15-year-old girl on social media.

Roy Adams, 32, allegedly sent the girl an unsolicited message on Facebook in June that said, "Hey beautiful," according to a probable cause affidavit. The girl reportedly asked who was sending the message and received a reply that stated, "Dallas Adams."

Roy Adams allegedly asked the girl if she was single, to which she replied "no." Adams continued to message the girl after she told him her age. Roy Adams allegedly sent the girl a "pin" to his location and, using sexually graphic language, asked her to meet with him.

The girl's mother reported the messages and provided copies of them to Texarkana, Arkansas, Police Department. Unable to locate a Dallas Adams, an investigator sent an email to area law enforcement agencies seeking help in identifying a suspect.

A crime analyst with the Texarkana, Texas, Police Department forwarded the email to an agency in Plano, Texas, which allegedly used facial recognition software to identify Roy Adams as the suspect.

Adams was arrested Aug. 31 on a charge of felony internet stalking of a child. He was released from custody Sept. 4 after posting a $25,000 bond.

Adams is ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim. He is scheduled to appear Oct. 6 in Miller County circuit court.
