TEXARKANA, Ark. - For those looking for a spicier Mexican flavor for breakfast, El Chico now offers a brunch alternative on Saturdays and Sundays. Having been tested out these last couple months, the brunch option very recently became official.
"We've had trial runs to test it out, for both our customers and to let the staff get used to cooking it," said Marcia Elliot, front-of-the-house manager. "We got feedback from the customers during the trial as well as customers to refine things."
El Chico-Texarkana is locally owned by Josh Dougolas.
Not all El Chicos are doing brunch, but many locations are adding this feature, which is new to them.
The feedback so far has been encouraging.
"So far, it is a positive reaction from our customers," said Elliot. "Some of our regulars especially liked the idea and were eager to give it a shot."
Elliot is enthusiastic about customers trying the new brunch menu.
"I'm hoping as word gets out, more folks will come and try it," she said.
Among the menu items are breakfast tacos, huevos rancheros, and more traditional items like French toast. And brunch would not be brunch without mimosas and Bloody Marys.
