TEXARKANA, Texas - The ongoing downtown renaissance has taken another step forward with the opening of the new location of the Beauty BARR. The salon - a fixture for six years on West Broad Street - recently moved to the corner of Third and Main streets.
"I feel like this part of downtown is busier," owner Taylor Barr said. "Plus, we are just across from the Perot Theater. Both our places as landmarks feed off each other. These are beautiful downtown landmarks and my clients have noted this."
April 1 is the birthday of Barr's business. She and her staff make it a point to mark the occasion.
"We love the downtown renaissance," she said. "We hope other business owners realize something exciting is going on here and decide they want to be a part of it. This is a chance for them to support downtown and be pioneers. We are on the same block as the Grim (Hotel) and other projects that will bring people downtown to live here. More people means more neighbors, more downtown excitement."
Barr and her staff are excited about the days to come in downtown Texarkana.
"I started out with my five girls when we opened," she said. "We've expanded a bit as time has gone on."
