Active COVID-19 cases fall in Bowie, Miller counties

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Bowie County, Texas, and Miller County, Arkansas, decreased from Thursday to Monday, according to state health departments.

Bowie County's active cases fell from 965 to 875, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services, as deaths because of COVID-19 in the county increased by one, from 137 to 138, and cumulative confirmed cases increased from 3,362 to 3,532. TDSHS estimates there have been 3,816 recoveries in Bowie County.

Elsewhere in Northeast Texas from Thursday to Monday, Red River County's total case count rose from 336 to 344, Morris County's from 439 to 461, Cass County's from 960 to 999 and Titus County's from 2,328 to 2,384, according to TDSHS.

Miller County's active case count decreased from 152 to 124 as the county's total case count rose from 3,362 to 3,532, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. There have been 17 COVID-19 deaths and 2,087 recoveries in the county.

In Southwest Arkansas, Lafayette County's confirmed cumulative case count increased from 282 to 285, Nevada County's from 539 to 551, Pike County's from 641 to 654, Little River County's from 738 to 754, Howard County's from 864 to 875, Hempstead County's from 1,101 to 1,138 and Sevier County's from 1,606 to 1,622, according to ADH.

In Northwest Louisiana from Thursday to Monday, Caddo Parish's case count increased from 20,490 to 21,035 and Bossier Parish's from 10,455 to 10,662, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.

Statewide, Arkansas reported 219,956 confirmed cases and 4,343 deaths on Monday, Louisiana reported 369,951 cases and 8,253 deaths, and Texas reported 1,864,249 cases and 32,084 deaths.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday reported 23,653,919 total cases in the U.S. so far, with a national death toll of 394,495.
