High-speed chase ends with blown tires; Speeds hit 126 mph before driver halted by spike strips at Hooks

TEXARKANA, Ark. - Charges of fleeing and theft have been leveled against a man who allegedly failed to stop after striking another motorist on Interstate-30 in Miller County on Monday morning.

Raed Alabed Kattom, 40, of Conway, Arkansas, was allegedly driving a black Dodge Caravan which had been reported stolen by Regency Funeral Home in Malvern, Arkansas, when he hit a black GMC truck near mile marker 13 at about 10:30 a.m. June 7, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Kattom allegedly continued traveling westbound on I-30 after the collision. Arkansas State Police Cpl. William Davidson attempted to pull Kattom over with lights and sirens activated but Kattom allegedly accelerated and crossed the state line into Texas.

Kattom was allegedly traveling at speeds of 75 to 126 miles per hour as he weaved in and out of traffic and drove on the shoulder to elude law enforcement. Spike strips flattened three of the Caravan's tires near the 206 mile marker and Kattom was arrested by Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.

Kattom has been charged in Miller County with felony fleeing and theft by receiving.
