Taco Trip, once located in a food truck, has now made the move to a building on New Boston Road.

And, they're known for something in addition to their namesake tacos.

Step into the unassuming building with sheet metal interior walls and an LED sign flashing various messages out front, you see a small dining room and a lady efficiently cutting colorful cakes featuring fresh fruit decorations on the outside.

Behind her is a large section of lamb, one of the options diners can have in tacos and other meals, slowly rotating as it cooks. A gentleman a few feet away from her prepares orders rapidly. This is the family team, Adrianna Herrera and Damien Urieta, that own and operate Taco Trip.

"Tres Leches, that means three different kinds of milk," says Herrera, the cake maker on the team.

But that is all she says about the recipe of these cakes, not wanting to give away any of her secrets. She leaves it up to the customers to taste. And they will have plenty to taste, for the cake pieces come in generous proportions, as do the meal orders.

"We started Taco Trip in a food truck about a year ago," she said. "When we reached the point we were ready, we opened the restaurant here, November of last year."

Though their enterprise is young, they cite deep experience in the restaurant trade.

"Damien has 20 years in the restaurant business alone," she said.

The husband/wife team describe Texarkana as a great place to do business.

"Costs are relatively low here," she said. "It is not hard to do business and save money."
