Coming Down | Regency House Demolition

The front part of Broad Street Pocket Park is being dismantled in preparation for the Regency House demolition in downtown Texarkana. The building making up the eastern wall of the park will have to be demolished, along with the Regency House building. Considering the proximity of buildings neighboring the Regency House and the unstable condition, the demolition process will be slow and tedious, said Tyler Richards, Texarkana, Arkansas, public works director. The majority of Regency House will be taken down by hand-tools. The contractor has 125 days to complete the project, however there will be more small repairs needed by other contractors after the demolition is complete. Everything is expected to be finished by the end of the year, according to Richards. (Staff photo by Sara Vaughn)
