De'Lois Riley Sirmans age 83, of Frankston, Texas formerly of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 6, 2019 in an Athens, Texas adult care facility. De'Lois was born May 20, 1936, in Queen City, Texas, to Henry and Vertie Lee Riley. After graduating from Queen City High School and East Texas State University, she moved with her husband and family to Garland, Texas, where she taught at Park Crest Elementary School for twenty years. She was a member of St. Philips Methodist Church and Axe Memorial Methodist Church before moving back home to Queen City. Then after moving back to Queen City, Mrs. Sirmans taught eighth grade science at Atlanta Middle School one year and fifth grade science and math at Morris Upchurch Middle School, nine years. She retired in 1993, after teaching for thirty years, and she continued as a substitute teacher for ten more years. She also did some volunteer work at Mums. Mrs. Sirmans was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Q.C., where she served in various positions, a current member of Laws Chapel Methodist Church, and a member of TRTA and ECCSRA. She was active in the Q.C. Band Boosters for several years and the Q.C. Alumni Association. Mrs. Sirmans was a devoted wife of 57 years, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved her family and friends, and was dedicated to taking care of her family, teaching children and serving the Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry C. and Vertie Lee Riley; and her husband, Albert Raymond "Buddy" Sirmans. She is survived by her three sons, Richard Sirmans and wife Patti of Frankston, Texas, Murry Sirmans and wife Julie of Crandall, Texas, Tim Sirmans and wife Kristy of Ward, Arkansas; grandchildren, Nicole Bradley and husband Brandon of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Anthony Sirmans and wife Lindsey of Prosper, Texas, Ricky Sirmans and wife Carly of Crandall, Texas; three great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons; sister, Beckye Velekei and husband Todd of Atlanta, Texas; brother, Robert Riley and wife Bobbye of Longview, Texas; serveral nieces, nephews and many other friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Laws Chapel Methodist Church with Dr. John Wilkey officiating, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 10, 2019 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Hanner Funeral Service. Donations may be made to Laws Chapel Methodist Church, or to the Queen City Alumni Association.
