James "Jim" "Doc" "Basso" Leslie Stuart, Sr. age 82, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Sunday, January 26, 2020 in an Ashdown, Arkansas, nursing home surrounded by his family. Mr. Stuart was born May 16, 1937 in Moline, Illinois. He was a retired Respiratory Therapist after forty-five years of serving patients in the Linden and Atlanta, Texas area. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Atlanta, Texas, a 32nd Degree Mason with the Linden Masonic Lodge # 192, the Toast Masters, and a Black Belt in Karate. He was also a veteran of the United States Army having served his country in the Korean War. Jim was a people's person who never met a stranger. He was a practical jokester and loved to make everyone around him laugh. There was never a dull moment when you were with him. He enjoyed going bass fishing and spent every moment on the lake he could. He enjoyed bass fishing so much his nick named was "Basso" to his family and friends. The most important thing in life to James was his family and spending time teaching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren the values of life, charter and integrity. He was not only a respiratory therapist by trade, but he was a person you could go to get advice about life. He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Mary Stuart of Texarkana, Arkansas, his children, Susan Lansdell and husband Robert of Texarkana, Arkansas, James Stuart Jr. of Port Arthur Texas, Steve Stuart of Flower Mound, Texas; one brother, Robert Stuart of Cleveland, Texas, one sister, Joan Stuart of New Caney, Texas; seven grandchildren, Adam Cade Stuart, Jessica Showalter and husband, Parker, Shelby Lewis and husband, Alex, Lillee Stuart, Lucas McCreery, Kaitlyn Stuart and Abby Stuart, a host of friends and other relatives. The family will receive friends at the home of Susan and Robert Lansdell, 6910 Tall Oaks Texarkana, Arkansas 71854, Tuesday, January 28, 2019 from 10:00 to 2:00 P.M.
