Virgil Neal Peacock, passed away in a Vivian, Louisiana hospital Friday morning, September 17, 2021. Neal was born to Virgil Lowell and Evelyn Langston Peacock, January 10, 1934, in the Huffines Community. He was a member of the Huffines Baptist Church and belonged to the Huffines and Watson Cemetery Associations. He was a member of the Bloomburg Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Queen City VFW. When his children were younger, Neal was a Boy Scout leader in Cub Scouts. Neal attended McLeod High School and enjoyed many activities, including sports. He attended the University of Maryland while in the Army and later East Texas State University, Texarkana and Commerce. He was a Programmer Analyst for Red River Army Depot, retiring after thirty-three years. Neal is survived by his wife, Kathryn Hurt Peacock, of 45 years; his sons Gary Peacock (wife, Shannon) of Queen City; Chris Peacock, (fiance', Mary Hicks) of Texarkana, Texas; daughters, Te'Neal Logan (husband, Michael); Pamela Kathryn Wicks-Jones, both of North Richland Hills, Texas. He is survived by his Grandchildren Amber Lynn Peacock; Daniel O'Neal Peacock (wife, Kayleigh; Sarah Grace Phillips; Bexley Caitlin Logan; Jack Jones; Tres Tuten (wife, Misty) . He has four Great-Grandchildren, Breleigh Conejo; Caiden Larry; Joseph E. Tuten IV; and Sophie Peacock. Neal is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Evelyn Peacock; brothers L. E. and Roy Peacock; sisters Una Waites; Jimmie Sue Simmons; and Claudean Prater. He is survived by brothers Kenneth and wife, Della Peacock of Atlanta; Charles Peacock of Huffines; and sister, Jean Klaus of Commerce, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, September 23rd, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and service will be held Friday, September 24th, 2:00 p.m., all at Hanner Funeral Service. Reverend Drew Weber, First United Methodist Church, Atlanta, officiating, with interment in the Huffines Community Cemetery.
