LILLIE McWHORTER

DE QUEEN, Ark.—Lillie Lee Liggin McWhorter, 85, of Lockesburg, Ark., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, in a local hospital. <br />Mrs. McWhor-ter was born Oct. 27, 1922, in the Avon community. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen McWhorter, in February 2007; one son, Louis McWhorter, in 1981; one grandson, P.J. Smith; and one great-grandson, Kain McWhorter. <br />Survivors include two sons, George McWhorter of Kirby, Ark., and David McWhorter of Lockesburg; three daughters, Phyllis Green and Tava Gordon of Lockesburg and Genetta Adams of De Queen; one brother, Charlie Liggin of Lockesburg; one sister, Callie Ross of Lubbock, Texas; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. <br />Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Old Union Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Wesley Blankenship officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery under direction of Chandler Funeral Home. <br />Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. <br />Online registration is at www.chandlerfuneral.com. <br />
