CHARLES DOWDY

MESQUITE, Texas—Charles Nelson Dowdy, 70, of Mesquite died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at his home. <br />Mr. Dowdy was born Jan. 7, 1939, in Nashville, Ark. He was a retired sign writer and artist. <br />Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Dowdy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Avie Dowdy of Lockesburg, Ark., and Mark and Cindy Dowdy of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Brian Thomas of Fort Worth; one sister, Neta Pickett of Lockesburg; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at East Memorial Gardens, Texarkana, under direction of Laurel Oaks Funeral Home, Mesquite. <br />Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
