Mary Blevins

Mary Virginia <br />“Ginger” Blevins <br />Surrounded by family, Mary Virginia “Ginger” Blevins passed away peacefully on April 25, 2009, in Tyler, Texas, at age 83. She was born in Malta, Texas, on January 9, 1926, to Colonel and Avis Epperson. She married the love of her life, Lamar Blevins, on February 5th, 1948. They lived in New Orleans and Texarkana before settling into their home on the hill north of Dierks, Ark., in 1974. They moved to Tyler, Texas, in 2000 to live next door to their daughter as Alzheimer’s began to take its toll on Lamar. He succumbed to Alzheimer’s in November of 2001, but now they are celebrating being together again. <br />She is survived by her daughters Sheila Webster of Depoe Bay, Ore., and Donna Martin and husband Henry of Tyler, Texas; grandchildren Joel Webster and wife Misty of Burleson, Texas, Ginger Rae Webster of Depoe Bay, Ore., Mellisa Karnes and husband Tim of Garland, Texas, James Hockaday of Woodville, Texas, and Jamie Martin and wife Heather of Whitehouse, Texas; as well as great-grandchildren Zachary and Tyson Karnes, Hayden and Jace Webster, Miles, Charli and Tucker Martin. She is preceded in death by Colonel and Avis Epperson, husband Lamar Blevins, siblings Linda Brafford, Madie Langford, Inky Hart, Girtie Merchant and L.D. Epperson. <br />She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, Mamaw and great-grandmother (Monna) and she was always there to help those who needed help, she poured out her love to her family and friends and she leaves a huge hole in our hearts. She was a homemaker, member of Eastern Star, Emblem Club and Home Demonstration Club. She loved working with her plants and flowers. <br />Visitation will be Monday, April 27, 2009, from 6 to 8pm at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane. <br />Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at East Funeral Home Chapel-Moores Lane officiated by Herman Epperson. Burial to follow will be in East Memorial Gardens under direction of East Funeral Home-Moores Lane. <br />In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or to Heart-to-Heart Hospice in Tyler, Texas, at 1402 Rice Rd.
