GUY HUGHES

Guy Allen Hughes, 84, of Texarkana, Texas, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at his home. <br />Mr. Hughes was born June 22, 1924, in Center Point, Ark. He was a retired postmaster for the United States Postal Service for Hope, Ark., and Jacksonville, Ark., a member of Texarkana Hunting Club, American Legions Post 0025, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 15045, Disabled American Veteran Association and Hampton Road Church of Christ and a World War II Army veteran. He was preceded in death by two wives, Sarah Metcalfe Hughes and Mary Helen Barns Hughes. <br />Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Kim Hughes of Texarkana; one daughter and son-in-law, Julia and George Carpenter Jr. of Texarkana; two stepsons, Dan Hall of Ponte Vedra, Fla., and Andy Hall of Marshall, Texas; three sisters, JoAnn Curtis of Sophia, N.C., Joyce Gordy of Bossier City, La., and Dell Roberts of Texarkana; one brother, Charles Hughes of Texarkana; nine grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Chapelwood Funeral Home with Jerry Monholland officiating.
