ERNEST AUTREY

Ernest LeRoy Autrey, 88, of Texarkana died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009. <br />Mr. Autrey was born Oct. 2, 1920, in Miller County, Ark. He was a city attorney, a partner with Autrey & Stewart Law Firm, former deputy prosecuting attorney, labor arbitrator for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Serve and American Arbitration Association, a commissioner of Uniform State Laws for the State of Arkansas, former chairman of the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army, former president of Texarkana Kiwanis Club, former commander of the American Legion, past chairman of Jurisprudence and Law Reform Committee, Arkansas Bar Foundation Fellow, former board member of United Way and Chamber of Commerce, former co-chairman of the Federal Practice Committee for the Western District of Arkansas and a member of Southwest Legal Foundation and Defense Research Institute, Masonic Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Arkansas Bar Association, Texarkana Bar Associations, Texas Bar Association, American Bar Association and member of First United Methodist Church, where he was former chairman of the Administrative Board, trustee and teacher of Men’s and Couples’ classes. <br />Survivors include his wife, Harriet Wren Autrey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Dr. Stuart Phillips of Texarkana and Mary and Steve Kardell of Dallas; one son and daughter-in-law, Judge Wren and Debbie Autrey of Texarkana; two brothers, Harry Autrey of Houston and Ralph Autrey of Ocean Springs, Miss.; one sister, Marilyn Masse of Roswell, N.M.; five grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services will be 10 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church, Arkansas, with the Rev. Charles T. Settle and Dr. Herbert Wren officiating. Burial will be in State Line Cemetery under direction of East Funeral Home, Downtown. <br />Relatives will be at the family home, No. 2 Spring Valley Lane, Texarkana, Ark. <br />Online registration is at www.mem.com. <br /> <br />
