VIRGINIA ELKINS-JEWELL

BEDFORD, Ind.—Martha Virginia Elkins-Jewell, 85, of Bedford died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, in a local hospital. <br />Mrs. Elkins-Jewell was born April 10, 1923, in Texarkana, Ark. She was a homemaker, former co-owner of Three Pigs Restaurant in Bedford, a member of County Avenue Baptist Church, Texarkana, and attended Southern Baptist Church, Free Methodist Church and Tabernacle of Praise in Bedford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar Lyman Jewell, on Dec. 4, 1991. <br />Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Robin Jewell of Bedford; two daughters and one son-in-law, Janice Jewell Funk of Bedford and Debbie Baker and Tony Baity of Indianapolis; three brothers, William Elkins of Texarkana, Charles Elkins of Ozark, Mo., and Wayne Elkins of Little Rock; two sisters, Dovie Dodson and Helen Hughes of Henderson, Texas; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services were Monday at Day and Carter Mortuary. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery. <br /> <br />
