JAY BETTS

AURORA, Colo.—Jay Robert Betts, 76, of Denver, Colo., died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, in a Denver hospital. <br />The Rev. Betts was born May 2, 1932, in DeKalb, Texas. He was founder and pastor of St. John COGIC, Denver, and an Air Force veteran. <br />Survivors include his wife, Gracie L. Betts of Denver; six stepsons, Johnnie Hamm, Samuel Hamm, Leotus Hamm, Timothy Hamm, Joseph Hamm and David Hamm of Denver; four stepdaughters, Joyce Stewart, Eddie B. Butler, Sandra Jeffrey and Ruthie Hamm of Denver; five sisters, Eloise French of Portland, Ore., Edwina L. Fanner of San Antonio, Vernita R. Wright and Sandra Taylor of Austin and Bernadean Betts of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Willie C. Betts of DeKalb, Texas, James L. Betts of Texarkana and Donnie I. Betts of Aurora; 25 grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services were Feb. 20 at Greater Campbell Memorial COGIC, Aurora, with Superintendent Lamar Kennedy officiating. Burial was in Fort Morgan Military Cemetery, Denver, under direction of Taylor Funeral Home. <br /> <br />
