SHIRLEY MARTINEZ

Shirley Ann Martinez, 72, of Ashdown, Ark., died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, in a local hospital. <br />Mrs. Martinez was born Nov. 20, 1936, in Van Zandt County, Texas. She was retired from Ashdown Public Schools, employed with Ashdown Post Office and Ashdown paper mill and a member of American Legion, Nail Benders for Jesus and First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Melissa Laake. <br />Survivors include her husband, Silverio “Silver” Martinez of Ashdown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kathy Jett of Ashdown and Elizabeth and Brent Lusk of Texarkana; one son and daughter-in-law, Kurt and Lisa Edwards of Crosby, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Goldie and Mike Norris of Bullard, Texas; one grandson, Billy Jett of Georgetown, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas, with the Rev. Larry Sims officiating.
