BERNIECE WHITECOTTON

NAPLES, Texas—Berniece E. Whitecotton, 95, of New Boston, Texas, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, in a Texarkana hospital. <br />Mrs. Whitecotton was born May 29, 1913, in Wards Creek community in Bowie County, Texas. She was a retired nurse’s aide and a member of New Boston Housing Authority Resident Board and Wards Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Whitecotton, in 1992; one daughter, Peggy Housewright; and one grandchild, Michael Moore. <br />Survivors include two sons, Sonny Whitecotton and Donny Whitecotton of New Boston; five daughters, Dorothy Moore, Joyce May and Diana Rose of Garland, Texas, Doris Russell of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Myra Reaves of DeKalb, Texas; five sisters, Reba Barrett and Neta Cain of Rockwall, Texas, Thelma Lawing and Novelle Bowers of Simms, Texas, and Helen McKinney of Arlington, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services will be 11 a.m. today at Wards Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Ken Cox and Larry Davis officiating. Burial will be in Wards Creek Cemetery under direction of Harrison Funeral Home. <br />Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. <br /> <br />
