RUFUS OWENS

DE QUEEN, Ark.—Rufus Minor Owens, 70, of Lockesburg, Ark., died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, in a Little Rock hospital. <br />Mr. Owens was born March 28, 1939, in Lockesburg. He was a retired engineer for IBM, a member of First Baptist Church, Lockesburg, and a Navy veteran. <br />Survivors include his wife, Velma Friday Owens of Lockesburg; one daughter, Jill Jamison of Nashville, Ark.; two sons, Eric Owens and Mark Owens of Lockesburg; four sisters, Ruth Hansen of Omaha, Neb., Dot Russell of Magnolia, Ark., Jane Cheatham of Palestine, Texas, and Polly Crisp of Russellville, Ark.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Lockesburg, with the Revs. Jack Gilliland and Tommy Halsell officiating. Burial will be in Bellville Cemetery under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. <br />Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. <br />Online registration is at www.wilkersonfuneralhomes.com. <br /> <br />
