ELMER SMITH

HOPE, Ark.—Elmer Smith, 80, of Hope died Thursday, May 14, 2009, in a Little Rock hospital. <br />Mr. Smith was born Sept. 5, 1928, in Hempstead County, Ark. He was a retired farmer, cattleman and poultry farmer, a produce stand owner, a member of Hope Lions Club and First Baptist Church, Hope, and a Korean War Army veteran. <br />Survivors include his wife, Helen Powell Smith of Hope; two daughters, Teena Smith of Houston and Doreen Nichols of Lumberton, Texas; four brothers, Howard Smith of Texarkana, Fred Smith of Magnolia, Ark., and Thomas Smith and Charles Smith of Hope; four sisters, Mildred Middlebrooks of Richardson, Texas, Geneva Bowlin of Conway, Ark., Marie Harris of Magnolia and Virginia Mulholland of El Dorado, Ark.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services will be 2 p.m. today at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home with the Rev.
