WILLIAM BENNETT

DE QUEEN, Ark.—William Ross “Poochy” Bennett, 73, of Stillwater, Okla., died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at his home. <br />Mr. Bennett was born Nov. 21, 1935, in De Queen. He was a retired electrical supervisor at Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co., volunteer at Judith Karmen Hospice and St. Andrews Resale Store, member of Eureka Masonic Lodge, ALARAF, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lewis Temple COGIC and Korean War Air Force veteran. <br />Survivors include his wife, Barbara Ride Bennett of Stillwater; five sons, William R. Bennett Jr. of Edmond, Okla., Harold C. Bennett, Robert D. Bennett, Jeffrey B. Bennett and VonRee R. Bennett of Stillwater; his mother, Eunice Bell of De Queen; two brothers, Leo Russell Bennett of Los Angeles and Donald Gene Bennett of Oklahoma City, Okla.; four sisters, Lois Mildred Kellum and Alberdia Louise Martin of Flint, Mich., Francis Johnson and Etta Marie Atkins of De Queen; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a number of other relatives. <br />Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lewis Temple COGIC with the Rev. E.A. Edwards officiating. Burial will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery with military rites under direction of Chandler Funeral Home. <br />Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. <br />Online registration is at www.chandlerfuneral.com.
