JERELENE JENNINGS

Jerelene Louise Jennings, 81, of New Boston, Texas, died Friday, June 22, 2012, in a local nursing home.

Ms. Jennings was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Carbondale, Texas. She was employed with reservation services and a member of Christian Coalition for Unity Eagles, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and Antioch Baptist Church, New Boston, where she served on the usher ministry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Jennings.

Survivors include four sons, J.L. Jennings Sr. and Roy Jennings of New Boston, William Jennings of Houston and Gary Jennings of Grand Prairie, Texas; three daughters, Ida Jennings and Wanda Jennings Smith of Dallas and Barbara Noel of New Boston; two brothers, Ed Sheppard Jr. of New Boston and Jeff Johnson of Denton, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at First Baptist Church, New Boston with the Rev. Billy E. Ford officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Linden, Texas, under direction of Haynes Mortuary.
